Posted November 18, 2018 02:00:06 The first person to get into the Devil’s Head ski resort in Lutsen, Sweden, was one John Lutsens.
The 36-year-old American, who has lived in the town of Riga, Latvia for the past five years, says he got the idea to try it while walking the dog.
“I was on my own for the first day and just wanted to try something different, and it was a bit of a novelty,” he said.
“But after a few days, I had an idea to make it my full time job.”
Lutsening has been making a living by making his living as a professional skier since the late 1990s, and he has been a member of the Lutsenburg Ski Club for more than a decade.
The club organizes ski competitions, and Lutseners first trip to the Devil was in 1999.
“It’s a beautiful place, but it’s not very popular.
The weather’s not great and it’s cold,” he says.
“And it’s a bit weird, too, to have a full time ski job in the middle of winter.”
After three days at the Devil, he was ready to take the plunge.
Lutsengs mother is a big fan of skiing.
She even took a lesson from Lutsersen at her son’s school, the Lutzen School of Education.
Lutensen also has an old friend, who is also a professional skiier.
“The only difference between me and him is that I have a car and a motorcycle, and I drive a car myself,” he told The Lad.
“He drives a motorcycle.”
For the first few days of his ski trips, Lutsensen’s car was stuck in traffic, so he decided to drive on his own.
“My car is a Toyota Landcruiser, so it was very nice to drive,” he laughed.
Lutzens life as a ski instructor is also interesting.
He has been skiing with his brother, Peter, since they were younger and they are now in their 30s.
“We are always on the slopes and have a lot of fun.
But it’s the snowboarding, that’s the fun,” he continued.
“There’s so much fun to be had.
But also the training.
The hardest part of it is being a teacher.”
For a guy who’s lived his whole life in the snow, Lutengs experience has been an adjustment for him.
“For me, it’s kind of a new experience,” he explained.
“A new thing.
And then to be out there on a big mountain with a lot snow, it is something I don’t really understand, and a lot to get used to.”
The Devil’s head is a popular place for people to ski, and as Lutsonen says, the resort is open year-round.
The first day of Lutsingen’s Devil’s ski resort was a total success, as the group spent almost two hours on the mountain and then some.
After that, the sun came out and it started to get dark.
It wasn’t until the third day that the weather was a little colder, so the group had to put on coats and jackets to get the day started.
Lutesen says it’s been a good experience for him to be back on the ice.
“When I first started back on my feet, I wasn’t very happy, because I had to wait until the last minute to go up to the peak and have the sun come out,” he explains.
“This is a very nice experience for me, because it’s very different.
It’s very warm, and the snow is pretty thick.”
