A Florida ski instructor has been accused of making lewd comments about a female client at a ski resort in the Dominican Republic, according to a report by local media.
Scott Schmittz, a 45-year-old instructor at Mountain Biking International Resort in Bradenton, was charged with four counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of third degree criminal sexual contact on Monday.
Schmitts assistant is being held on $1 million bond, the report said.
The Department of Transportation, which operates the resort, is conducting a criminal investigation and has launched a probe, according the report.
Schmitzes lawyer told local media that the accused instructor did not know the victim.
The woman had been visiting the resort with her family for a weekend.
Schmits wife, Dana, also lives at the resort and had visited him with his family on Saturday, the local Fox affiliate reported.
According to local media reports, the woman said Schmittzes assistant grabbed her buttocks while she was seated at a table, but she did not witness the incident.
The report also said Schmitzik told the woman, “You’re not going to be a problem.”
The report said he told her he was going to leave after she complained about the behavior.
According the report, the victim told police Schmittzik was not the only instructor at the ski resort that had made inappropriate comments about her.
The police report said the victim was uncomfortable with the situation and was “trying to get away from it,” but that the instructor eventually left the resort.
